Jim Rohn: Personal Development

I love Jim Rohn’s illustration of what personal development is all about. He uses money to illustrate the principle though he makes the point that there are other dimensions we could consider. We get paid for delivering value to the market and you can increase the value you provide to the market, ergo you can increase the amount of money you earn.

Why would the marketplace pay someone only $4 per hour? The answer is because they are NOT too valuable to the marketplace. But the essence of Jim’s talk is that you can increase your worth to the marketplace. We live in an economy that makes climbing the financial ladder possible for everyone. all you have to do is work on yourself more (harder) than you work on your job – that is the essence of personal development.
